To keep global warming within the limits set by the IPCC of not exceeding two degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels, many countries, states, and even cities, have set a target of reducing emissions of greenhouse gases to net zero by 2050.
This means that GHG emissions must be reduced to the point where they are effectively balanced by the absorption of the natural sinks--which are the principally the world’s forests and the oceans.
A global transition to renewable energy technologies, mainly solar photovoltaic energy, wind power, and hydroelectricity, is the key to reducing emissions to a net zero level.
In this presentation, Neighbours for the Planet examines the policies that will ensure that Canada can meet this target.
Please join Martin Bush and Aimee Tai from Neighbours for the Planet for a slide presentation, followed by a Q & A session.
Presenters:
Dr. Martin Bush - Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering and Fuel Technology, author of 2 books on the Climate Crisis
Aimee Tai - Youth Climate Change Activist , Climate Reality Leader, High School student
