Tues March 10, 7pm: Blue Dot York Region Monthly Meeting

"We will be looking for volunteers to attend the 4th Maple Syrup Festival, Saturday, March 28, at the Elgin West Community Centre from 10 am.-2pm.

We will be brainstorming initiatives to reduce plastic and discuss ways to ensure York Region citizen’s are familiar with blue box disposal methods. For example; in addition to reducing and re-using, Blue Dot will emphasize the following with respect to the blue box:

  1. No plastic bags should be placed in the blue box, including compostable bags;

  2. Clean items deposited in the blue box to avoid contamination – wipe cans, jars etc. with cloth/paper towel; there are strict rules on fiber (paper products)

  3. Familiarize yourself with items that can/cannot be recycled – if in doubt check York.ca/bindicator or Access Richmond Hill or Access York Region

We continue to wait for direction from the David Suzuki Foundation related to meetings with MP’s to discussion the Canadian Environmental Protection Act."
