Homemade Oatmeal by Brian Charles

Thanks to Brian for giving us a great healthy way to start the day!


  • ½ cup slow cook large flake oats

  • 1 tablespoon ground flax seed

  • 1 tablespoon raw shelled hemp (heart) seeds

  • 1 tablespoon black chia seeds

  • 2 tablespoons raw shelled sunflower seeds and/or pumpkin

  • ¼ cup of dried cranberries (I use Ocean Spray. Can use less and is for taste)

  • ¼ to ½ cup of frozen blueberries (Can use less/more and is for taste)

  • Pinch of Nutmeg (optional)

  • Pinch of Cinnamon (optional)


  1. In a small pot boil 1 ½ cups of water

  2. Stir in oats, flax seeds, hemp seeds, chia seeds cranberries and cook uncovered

  3. Reduce heat to low and cook for 14 minutes

  4. Stir occasionally

  5. Half way through (approximately 7 minutes stir in frozen blueberries)

  6. Let stand (off stove) for a couple of minutes after cooked

  7. Add maple syrup or brown sugar for taste if desired (optional)

  8. Add Silk organic unsweetened soy beverage (optional and can use other alternatives as desired)
