When Parliament resumes in September, the federal government must renew its commitment to introducing a climate accountability law to keep Canada’s emissions in check.
Since the Liberals were re-elected, largely due to the strength of their climate platform, the world has changed.
But one thing remains constant: We were in a climate emergency before the pandemic, we are in one now, and we will continue to be in one even once the pandemic passes.
Compounding this urgency is the fact that Canada, lacking any sort of climate accountability law, has missed every single climate target it has ever set
.
This needs to change. A climate accountability framework can help.
Tell Prime Minister Trudeau: Renew your promise to deliver bold climate action. Keep climate accountability on your legislative agenda.
